Description

It is a 2-year course (1st and final year) in the general stream during which students prepare for the International French Baccalaureate. Students benefit from specific teaching in language, history-geography and literature (ACL) . The global network of American international sections is coordinated by AAMIS based in Paris.

Le BFI américain et espagnol s’adresse à des élèves motivés, intéressés par les deux langues, la culture nord-américaine et sont capables de travailler avec efficacité et persévérance. Les élèves doivent avoir un très bon niveau général, non seulement en langues mais aussi dans le reste des disciplines notamment en histoire géographie. Cette section est historiquement ouverte aux élèves anglophones, cependant les élèves dont le niveau d’anglais et d’espagnol est jugé suffisant par les professeurs peuvent prétendre à cette section, qu’ils aient été inscrits ou non en section européenne.

The advantages of the BFI course

  • A linguistic immersion , an intercultural reflection , a cross-examination of history, geography and literature.

  • Frequent contact with English speakers (teachers, assistants, correspondents, external speakers, interviews) brings the international dimension of the section to life.

  • Individualized monitoring and tutoring that promotes team spirit and mutual support .

The BFI Diploma

  • Promotes all applications for higher education in France, particularly selective courses,

  • Allows easier access to Anglo-Saxon universities (the BFI is supported by the American College Board, a major organization for access to higher education in the United States),

  • Allows priority admission to many international higher education programs,

  • Demonstrates intercultural skills and international openness .

Trilingual BFI tests and coefficients

  • BFI subjects account for 40% of the baccalaureate , with three specific tests:

    • Knowledge of the world: oral test in English

    • History geography: written and oral tests in English (LVA)

    • Cultural and linguistic deepening: written and oral tests in Spanish (LVB)

Partnership project

The “Knowledge of the world” discipline provides for the development of a partnership project by students.

  • In 1st: definition of the object of study and search for partners

  • In the final year: development of support and implementation of project reviews

This project is assessed at the end of the final year .

Enseignements

In 1st grade:

1st general class,

  • Common core with 3 specialties among:

    • History, Geography, Geopolitics and Political Sciences (HGGSP)

    • Humanities, Literature and Philosophy (HLP)

    • Language, Literature and Culture of Ancient Latin (LLCA)

    • Mathematics

    • Physics-Chemistry

    • Economic and Social Sciences (SES)

    • Life and Earth Sciences (SVT)

  • 2.5 hours of English

  • 2 hours of Spanish

BFI additional courses :

  • 2h History Geography in English

  • 2h Knowledge of the world in English

  • 2 hours of cultural and linguistic in-depth study (ACL) in Spanish

In the final year of high school:

  • Common core: 2 specialties retained

  • 2 hours of English

  • 2 hours of Spanish

  • BFI additional courses :

    • 2h History Geography in English

    • 2h Knowledge of the world in English

    • 2 hours of cultural and linguistic in-depth study (ACL) in Spanish

Modalités d'accès :

Calendar 2025:

Candidature

For students enrolled in the 2nd International Section , access is directly validated by the 3rd quarter Class Council (the application file must be completed and sent to the high school within the deadlines indicated opposite)

For all other candidates , access is via written and oral tests in the two BFI languages.

The final results will be sent to the candidates and to the DSDEN17 at the end of the selection tests.
