"After the BTS, I moved to Bac+3 towards transport and logistics management thanks to a Franco-German work-study program in Strasbourg. And, I am currently in work-study in the final year of a Master's degree in Transport, Logistics and International Trade at ISTELI in Nantes. I work for a trading company (import-export from China). These are international triangular operations which are, through their management, their legislation and the documentary bundles, much more complex operations than simple exporter/importer flows.
Doing the BTS CI was, for me, the best academic decision I have made. Indeed, during the various job interviews I have had, the BTS is a real plus. It is a guarantee of quality and enjoys an excellent reputation in terms of variety and comprehensiveness of teaching. In addition, the knowledge acquired during the courses and internships is useful to me every day (in the company or in class). And, the internships, which I have done abroad, allow me to put theory into practice, but also to mature, meet new people and expand my network.
Doing this BTS in La Rochelle at the Saint-Exupéry high school is A GOOD IDEA, because the teachers are dedicated to the students' success, learning the third language is an undeniable advantage and the setting is rather pleasant!
Charline (class of 2018)
After the BTS I entered the Bachelor's degree in Production Transport Logistics Management at ISTELI in Bordeaux. It is a work-study program mainly focused on road transport but there is also air and sea transport where we review concepts seen in GOIE. I did my work-study program at the carrier DB Schenker in Niort.
After this year, I decided to embark on the Master's in Transport Logistics International Trade, still in work-study. I am currently in my second year. I am doing my work-study within the LDC Group in Sablé-sur-Sarthe.
In this master's degree, we see much less road transport and the courses are more oriented towards international trade. We review concepts seen in BTS but we go a little deeper. We also learn how to become a manager, how to lead a team.
I really don't regret my choice to continue my studies and I want to encourage current students. The BTS does not close the doors to higher education, on the contrary. You should not hesitate to continue afterwards because it can open many doors, in France and abroad. This is what I plan to do at the end of my studies. Maybe not immediately, but if possible in the next 5 years I would like to go and work abroad.
Maxime (promotion 2017)
If there is one certainty, it is the plethora of possibilities offered by the BTS CI. Quite representative of this statement, my path is as follows:
2017: Obtaining the BTS CI
2017/2018: Bachelor Business specializing in Commercial Management, work-study program at Crédit Agricole, Excelia Business School.
2018/2020:
Department Manager (team of 8/10 people; €1.5 million turnover), Decathlon France
IOT Technical Sales Representative, Airicom Paris.
2020/2022: Master Finance, Toulouse School of Management, UT1 Capitole (affiliated Toulouse School of Economics).
I would confidently describe the BTS CI as a fulfilling training. While its essence is intended to provide the theoretical fundamentals of international trade, it is in the variety of practices offered that it stands out. I particularly remember the curiosity it brought me and my appetite for interculturality. I would also like to highlight the omnipresent support of a teaching team that does not leave you indifferent!
To conclude, seasoned with experiences abroad (internships, etc.), this BTS is an ideal cocktail for embarking on a professional career as well as continuing studies (Grandes écoles de commerce / University). It has been a springboard in each of the stages of my working life as I am now moving towards a career in investment banking (M&A)
