Feedback:

For the first time this year, the Latinists of Saint-Ex participated in an E-Twinning project, the Erasmus+ social network. You're going to say to yourself, Zeus! Latin + social network + Erasmus??!! No one told me that this was Latin!

So here are some explanations.

Why an E-Twinning project in Latin?

This year we obtained Erasmus+ accreditation for the high school. When we thought about this accreditation last year, I thought that Latin had its place in Erasmus – well yes, Erasmus is a humanist, without Latin there is no humanism, no humanities, no arms, no chocolates… So without Latin, no Erasmus! So this year it was a question of entering this new project in a gentle way through an E-Twinning project while waiting for the validation of our accreditation file.

What about Finding Remus?

We were lucky to find on E-Twinning live this magnificent work Finding Remus carried out by a Spanish colleague Ángel Luis Gallego Real. This project involves two Spanish high schools, two Italian high schools and our high school. It is based around the figure of Remus, the brother of Romulus. You can visit the web page to learn more. https://findingremus.weebly.com

It was about working on the foundation of Rome and what Rome left us, how it still influences our daily environment. We used E-Twinning, the Erasmus platform to work together on activities, often in teams. The languages used were Latin and English. Yes, we do Latin in English! or English in Latin!

This project was proposed to all the Latin students of the high school (2nde, 1ère, Term). This allowed them to develop their skills and enrich their experience of European projects which can only enhance their orientation files. I take advantage of this article to say a big thank you to all the students who brought the project to life throughout the year.

What are the benefits of this project?

The benefits have been numerous. The first is certainly the awareness of the importance and relevance of learning Latin. Such a project allows us to show that the heritage of Rome is still very much alive and that Latin is a common teaching in a large number of European countries. In addition, this project has allowed us to work sometimes differently and in a fun way by using internet resources.
